PHS Jolly Pranksters extend invitation to local audiences
The Plymouth High School Jolly Pranksters, the only high school comedy team in Sheboygan County, is planning three upcoming local performances and continues to compete with the Milwaukee ComedySportz High School League in Milwaukee. The Jolly Pranksters will perform in the PHS Amphitheatre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8. The team will also pair up to perform with PHS’ 2010 Amph-Rats Acting Company (advanced acting students) following their original performances Monday, May 10 and Tuesday, June 1, also at 7:30 p.m. in the PHS Amphitheatre.
These comic improvisation-based shows held at PHS are family friendly, and admission to all local performances is absolutely free while admission to the ComedySportz High School League games held at the Milwaukee ComedySportz Arena located at 420 S. First St. is $3 for one game, $5 for two, and $7 for all three.
The next date the PHS Jolly Pranksters play in the Milwaukee ComedySportz High School league is Saturday, April 3, when the team takes on Thomas More High School at 11 a.m., Waukesha South High School at noon, and Rufus King High School at 1 p.m. Then they will play the last two games of the regular season in Milwaukee at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, when the group plays Milwaukee High School for the Arts and then Pius High School at noon.
During the month of May, the CSz High School League runs a tournament in which all of the high school teams participate in a series of elimination games. The schedule for this event will be published soon. The teams earn points based on the audience’s response to their work, so the more fans who come, laugh, and cheer, the better the chances are that a team will win the match.
The 2009-10 Jolly Pranksters comedy team is the fourth group Plymouth High School has formed that participates in the annual ComedySportz High School league. This year’s team members are seniors, Samantha DeVries, Leah Glassford, Luke Murray, Devon Riederer and Cody Wisman; junior, Marissa Murphy; and sophomores, Christopher Gideon and Jesse Meyer (team captain).
The 2010 PHS Amph-Rats Acting Company is made up of seniors Luis Augirre, Leah Glassford, Maki Hasebe, Luke Murray, Lena Mylin, Madeline Nesemann and Amanda Rizzi; and juniors Brock Reichardt, Forrest Payne, Colby Pearce, Kelly Reineke and Mitchell Krahn.
