Highway projects continue in county
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation regional office in Green Bay is providing a weekly update on road construction in Sheboygan County.
Work is continuing on the State 23 project from County P to State 32.
The 10-mile, $4.9 million project involves concrete dowel bar retrofit where warranted, concrete diamond grinding, concrete pavement repair, concrete pavement replacement, concrete approach slabs, culvert maintenance, sign removal, installation of asphaltic shoulders, beam guard upgrades, traffic control, pavement marking sawing existing pavement and incidentals necessary to complete work. It will include work at the State 67, State 57 and State 32 interchanges.
The westbound driving (right) lane is closed from State 32 to County P.
Work will be completed this week on Interstate 43 on the first phase of the bridge decks between State 42 and County EE in the southbound median lane of I-43. On Tuesday, the approaches to the new decks will be paved and traffic will be switched to the southbound median lane and the southbound driving lane will be closed. Work will then begin on the other half of the bridges from State 42 to County EE. Beam guard work will continue in the northbound lanes of I-43 from County V to State 42 as well this week.
The $16-million project, from the south county line to State 42, involves bridge deck repair and overlay, asphaltic surface milling, hot mix asphalt pavement, beam guard, concrete base patching, ramp closure gates, law enforcement pads, and all incidentals to complete the project.
I-43 will have one lane closed in the southbound lanes from State 42 to County V. This closure will remain up for the duration of time required to complete the second phase of the bridge deck replacements. During this week and next one lane will be closed in the northbound lanes of I-43 to conduct the beam guard repairs. This will be a moving operation, with lane closures moved northward as the work progresses. Changeable message boards are being utilized to inform the motoring public in advance when work will begin. They will be posted one week prior to the work beginning.
Both projects are scheduled to be completed in July.
