Dominant win for PHS
GREEN BAY – Junior Angie Schleh’s hat trick and Christina Schicker’s three assists powered the Plymouth Panthers to a 9-0 pummeling of Green Bay West in nonconference girls soccer here Tuesday afternoon.
Schleh, a forward, tallied all three of her goals in the first 44 minutes. Junior forward Marisa Raeder had two goals, both assisted by Schicker, a midfielder. Clarice Hnilicka, Hannah Klecka, Lizzie Rooker and Schicker contributed one goal each.
Hnilicka, Chelsea Martin, Rachel Vargas and Klecka had one assist apiece.
Senior goalkeeper Marike Van de Pas earned her first varsity shutout. PHS, which improved to 2-1, held a whopping 15-1 lead in shots on goal.
“You go into that game confident you can and should win but with the understanding that they have a couple individuals who can hurt you if you let them,” said PHS head coach Sam Schroeder.
“We were careful not to let that happen and we didn't leave a lot on the table today. This was the first game in which our finishing didn’t leave much to be desired and that helped inflate the scoreline.
“I was impressed with the way the girls overcame difficult wet and muddy field conditions and focused on getting the result,” Schroeder said.
