MALINDA A. CIRIACKS

Malinda A. “Linda” Ciriacks, age 99, of Plymouth, formerly of Cascade, passed away Thursday evening, April 8, 2010, at Kindred Hearts in Plymouth, where she has been a resident the past four years.

She was born Jan. 3, 1911, in the town of Scott, a daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Koepke) Engelmann. She attended school in the town of Scott.

Linda was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.

In 1928 she moved to Milwaukee where she worked as a clerk at Sears & Roebuck. She also worked as a seamstress for several glove and clothing manufacturers, sewing cloth and leather garments.

On Aug. 26, 1933 she married Charles Vilhauer. They moved to Cascade in 1941 where they operated Vilhauer’s Shoe Store.

She joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade and was a member and treasurer of the Mission Circle, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.

She worked part-time for Weinhold Grocery Store, the Cascade Post Office and as a telephone operator. She was also employed at the A&P Food Store, the IGA, and Sentry Foods as office clerk, retiring in 1976.

She and her husband moved to Plymouth in 1971. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1979.

On Nov 11, 1989 she married Leroy Ciriacks. In retirement, they enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida where she also worked part time in a ladies shoe store. They moved to Salem Green in 1993. Her husband preceded her in death July 14, 1999.

Linda loved playing cards and was part of numerous card clubs. A gentle and loving woman, Linda’s legacy is that she learned to be generous with her time and talents and never hated anyone.

She is survived by her sister Florence Seider of Sheboygan Falls; a stepson William James (Jeanne) Ciriacks of Saukville; one stepdaughter, Margie (Ralph) Chapman of West Bend; and one stepdaughter-in-law, Nancy Ciriacks of Florida; as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Gerhart and Floyd Bleck.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, April 11, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cascade. The Rev. Richard Bidinger officiated. Burial took place in the parish cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in Linda’s name for St. Paul’s Lutheran Mission Circle.
