RUEBEN N. ROSENTHAL
Rueben N. Rosenthal, age 78, of 610 Chaplin Court, Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Friday evening, April 9, 2010, at the Plymouth Care Center where he had been a resident for the past two months following a head injury due to a fall.
He was born Dec. 15, 1931 in the town of Rhine, a son of the late Arthur J. and Emma Schleunes Rosenthal. Rueben attended Rhine Center Grade School and Kiel High School.
On Oct. 11, 1958, he married Dorene Goerke at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland, Wis. The couple have resided in Plymouth since their marriage.
Rueben served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-54 during the Korean War. He worked at Borden’s Foods for 10 years, and Kraft Foods for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plymouth.
Rueben liked traveling, cards, dancing, yard work and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dorene of Plymouth; one son, Ryan J. (Mary) Rosenthal of Howards Grove; two grandchildren, Olivia and Nathaniel Rosenthal of Howards Grove; one brother, Louis (Lucille) Rosenthal of Elkhart Lake; one sister, Judy Freis of Kiel; his mother-in-law, Valeria Goerke of Plymouth; and also survived by many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Frederick Rosenthal; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Harriet and Edward Schaap and Ardelle and Alden Voland; and one brother-in-law, Dalhardt Freis.
Funeral services were held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 12, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. The Rev. Nathan Meader, senior pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, officiated. Entombment took place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in the town of Sheboygan.
Visitation was held at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth on Monday until the time of the service.
