Sound Celebration names Jaeger Barbershopper of the Year
At their Awards and Recognition banquet March 30, Sound Celebration Chorus named Ruth Jaeger, Barbershopper of the Year.
This award is given to the chorus member who contributes the most to the organization. Jaeger has been singing barbershop music for over 50 years.
Director Janice Westphal presented the award and noted Jaeger’s contributions in the making of costumes, creating the set design for the annual show, being the section leader for the baritones and a member of the Music Team. Jaeger also serves on the board of directors and actively participates in all fund-raisers and performances.
According to Westphal, “Ruth epitomizes the character and musicality of the barbershop hobby.”
Jaeger and her husband, Louie, also a barbershop singer, live in rural Cascade. When not singing, she is active in her church, spends time with her grandchildren, and takes painting classes at the Plymouth Center.
Sound Celebration Chorus rehearses every Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. at the Greenbush Town Hall. Any woman who loves to sing is welcome to attend any rehearsal.
