Falcon wrestling wraps up season

The 2009-2010 Sheboygan Falls Falcons wrestling team wrapped up another special season Tuesday night, April 6.
Falcons head coach Fred Brown thanked the athletes, their parents, cheerleaders and statisticians for all their hard work towards another great season. The Falcon wrestlers were honored at a banquet at Breaking Bread Banquet Hall in Sheboygan.
The Falcons won their third Eastern Wisconsin Conference title in four years, took second in the regional with seven wrestlers advancing to the sectional, had three state qualifiers and one state champion, finishing 6-1 in the EWC (12-4 overall).
This season three wrestlers qualified for state — senior Nathan Brown (125 pounds), sophomore Lucas Lambrecht (130) and junior Ben Chappa (152).
Nathan Brown and Chappa both returned to state for the fourth straight time. Lambrecht earned his second straight trip.
Brown honored seniors Eric Albrecht, Nathan Brown, Chappa, Jared Ertman, Iain Fouts, Tyler Halbach, Matt St. Andre, Ben Ten Pas and Jordan Zastrow for their hard work and accomplishments.
Chappa was named the team’s Most Valuable Wrestler for the second straight season. He was also a four-year letter winner. Chappa is also a four-time conference champion, four-time regional champ, 2010 sectional champ and 2010 state champion.
Brown won the John Peichl award. Brown was a four-year letter winner, four-time regional champ, a 2007 and 2010 sectional champ and four-time high scholar award winner.
Coach’s awards went to varsity sophomore Austin Korff, junior varsity sophomore Ben Fairbotham and freshman Tyler Jones.
Most Improved awards went to varsity Ten Pas, junior varsity Nick Owens and freshman Drew Setzer.
Best performance went to Chappa (senior), Jeremiah Kramasz (junior), Jeff Becker (sophomore) and freshman Brandon Broetzmann.
Practice wrestlers awards, Ertman (senior), Ryan Fillafer (junior), Becker (sophomore) and Clayton Ottman (freshman). Iron Man Award-sophomore Nick Owens (two-time winner).
Highest GPA’s were achieved by Brown (senior), Kramasz (junior), Lambrecht (sophomore), Ottman and Setzer (freshman), and statistician Marie Kettler (senior).
