Books for kids and teachers

Members of the UW-Sheboygan Future Educators of America (FEA) student organization donated more than 220 children’s literature books to the UW-Sheboygan’s University Library recently. The group raised $700 through a silent auction in December and the UW-Sheboygan Foundation provided matching funds to the group for a total of $1,400 to purchase the books in an effort to create a children’s literature section for the library. The books will be utilized by students participating in the UW-Sheboygan/UW-Oshkosh collaborative bachelor’s degree in elementary education program, as well as create a resource for children in the community who will now have something to read while their parents are utilizing Library’s research and educational resources. At the donation event were (left to right) Dr. Charlotte Zieve, UW-Sheboygan Foundation president; Jeff Ellair, UW-S library director; Maria Dahn, FEA president; Jenny Resnick, FEA vice president; Sandy Thao, FEA member; Kristen Glodosky, FEA member; Brianna Gerk, FEA treasurer; and Al Hardersen, UW-Sheboygan dean and CEO. Not pictured are Mary Arenal-Stoehr, FEA secretary; and Mary Lou Harris-Manske, owner of The Book Look Children’s Book Store of Stevens Point, which helped create the book list and ordered the books for the group.
