Cabaret planned for May 2 at UW-Fond du Lac

The University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac Music Department will present “Cabaret – an evening of popular music” at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 2, in the University Center Commons, 400 University Drive, Fond du Lac.

Performing in this year’s Cabaret show will be the UW-Fond du Lac Chorus, accompanied by Paul Thelen with student rhythm trio Eddie Uttendorfer, guitar; Adam Schneider, bass; and Nathan Schultz, drums. Also featured in the show will be U-FiDeLity, UW-Fond du Lac’s vocal jazz ensemble, accompanied by students Mike Toshner, guitar; Dan Malson, bass; Nathan Schultz, drums; and Mark Thompson, percussion.

Both ensembles are under the direction of Patricia Eby, music professor and associate dean. Eby is also keyboardist for U-FiDeLity.

This entertaining night of popular music includes jazz, show tunes, and “oldies.” Featured selections include music from “Grease,” “Les Miserables,” “Music Man” and the Beatles.

U-FiDeLity will sing tunes from the big band era with soloists Catherine Weber, Julia Rothe, Briana Gens and Shana Davis, and more contemporary arrangements made popular by Manhattan Transfer and Van Morrison.
