State 23 ramp closures in Plymouth this week
Drivers on State 23 in Plymouth will be dealing with paving and ramp closings all week, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation regional office in Green Bay.
Concrete repair, concrete pavement replacement, dowel bar retrofitting and diamond grinding work on the State 67 ramps at State 23 and on both northbound and southbound State 67 between the State 23 ramps will continue this week. The contractor will continue culvert pipe maintenance and dowel bar retrofitting in both the eastbound and westbound lanes of State 23. The contractor will also continue to perform concrete pavement repair, dowel bar retrofitting, and diamond grinding on the State 57 ramps at State 23.
Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction along State 23 from County P to State 32. The State 57 ramps will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for five nights starting Monday, April 26. The ramps will reopen Saturday morning, May 1 and close again Monday night, May 3. They will reopen by Saturday, May 8. The State 67 ramps and both northbound and southbound State 67 between the State 23 ramps will be closed to through traffic from Monday April 26 to Sunday, May 9.
The 10-mile, $4.9 million project on State 23 from County P to State 32 is scheduled for completion in July.
The project involves concrete dowel bar retrofit where warranted, concrete diamond grinding, concrete pavement repair, concrete pavement replacement, concrete approach slabs, culvert maintenance, sign removal and installation asphaltic shoulders, beam guard upgrades, traffic control, pavement marking sawing existing pavement and incidentals necessary to complete work. This project involves the State 67, State 57 and State 32 interchanges.
Work continues this week on Interstate 43 on the bridges in the southbound lanes of I-43 at Wilson Lima Road, County AA, Amsterdam Road and Pebble Beach Road. Slope paving will begin this week on State 42 under the I-43 southbound bridge over State 42. State 23 asphalt paving will be completed this early this week, along with Taylor Drive and the ramps from State 23 to Taylor Drive paved. Ramp paving and shouldering will begin late this week in the State 23 and I-43 interchange.
The $16.0 million project on I-43 from the south county line to State 42, scheduled to be completed July 16, involves bridge deck repair and overlay, asphaltic surface milling, hot mix asphalt pavement, beam guard, concrete base patching, ramp closure gates, law enforcement pads, and all incidentals to complete the project.
I-43 will have one lane closed in the southbound lanes from Wilson Lima Road to County AA and from Amsterdam Road to Pebble Beach Road for the bridge work. This closure will remain up for the duration of time required to complete the four bridges in these two segments of I-43 southbound.
On State 42 during the slope paving replacement, traffic will be down to one lane in each direction during working hours. For all ramp closures, changeable message boards are being used to inform the motoring public in advance when work will begin. They will be posted three days prior to the closure of the ramps.
The following is the current anticipated schedule of lane closures and ramp closures in the I-43 and State 23 interchange (please note this work is weather dependant and all closures are from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.): April 26-27 — State 23 lane closures; April 28-29 — Taylor Drive northwest and southwest ramp closures; April 29-30 — State 23 and I-43 northeast ramp closure; May 3-4 — State 23 and I-43 northeast and southeast ramp closure; May 3-4 — I-43 northbound collector distributor closure; May 4-5 — State 23 and I-43 northeast and southeast ramp closure; May 4-5 — I-43 northbound collector distributor closure; May 5-6 — State 23 and I-43 northwest and southwest ramp closure; May 6-7 — State 23 and I-43 northwest and southwest ramp closure; and May 7-8 — I-43 northbound collector distributor closure.
