Falcons bolt out to 3-0 start

The Sheboygan Falls Falcons boys tennis team topped Kewaunee 6-1 in an Eastern Wisconsin Conference dual meet Thursday, April 22, in Sheboygan Falls.
The Falcons were led by their doubles teams, as all three stayed units undefeated to start the season.
With the victory, Falls improved to 2-0 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference (3-0 overall).
The doubles teams of Dan Duda and Nathan Brown, Karl Huberty and Adam Lorenz and David Bimmel and Mitch Thimmig swept their opponents in two sets against Kewaunee.
Singles players Peter Bimmel (No. 2), Baylor Bachmann (No. 3) and Dustin Schueffner (No. 4) also won in straight sets.
The Falcons defeated Waupun 5-2 on Tuesday, April 20, in Sheboygan Falls.
Schueffner posted another shutout victory at No. 4 singles, as did the doubles teams of Huberty and Lorenz and Bimmel and Doug Arpke.
“Our depth in doubles play is starting to get recognized,” said Falcons coach Leigh Cherveny. “Duda and Brown continue to get better. At No. 3, Bimmel, Thimmig and Arpke have produced well to allow me to use both players.”
“Bachmann and Schueffner continue their winning ways, with Ricky Haase and Peter Bimmel showing improvement at No. 1 and No. 2 singles,” he said.
Cherveny feels the team shouldn’t get over confident, because they still need to work on technical things like volleys, better racquet preparation and knowing where they are on the court.
