PHS girls win EWC Relays
KIEL – Plymouth won six events en route to earning the girls title in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Relays here Tuesday.
The Panthers, who led the meet in the number of first places, scored 120 points. Sheboygan Falls captured second with 103.5.
PHS finished third in the boys competition with 93 points and had two victories. Two Rivers edged Kiel for first, 104-103.
“This is a tough meet to gauge your team on because of the relay format but we are pleased with our overall performances,” said Panther head coach Jay Grosshuesch.
“We had a strong girls meet, highlighted by our distance, mid-distance and throwers. Our throwers went 1-2 in their events and we looked good in both the 4,800- meter relay and 3,200 relay.
“We also had a good [girls] meet from our hurdlers who finished 1-2,” Grosshuesch said. “For the boys, our throwers led the charge here – capturing both the shot and discus. Our longer relays also scored well. The 6,400 and 3,200 had a series of nice races as did our sprint and distance medleys.”
