DOLORES L. BACKHAUS

Dolores L. Backhaus, 65, of 6930 Sunset Road, Kohler, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010. She was born Nov. 15, 1944, in Kiel to Roma (Libke) Hagenow and the late Raymond Hagenow.

On Feb. 9, 1963, Dolores married Eugene Backhaus in Kiel. He preceded her in death Oct. 16, 2007.

Dolores was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed playing games and cooking with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting and cross-stitching. Her canine companion Nikki was always by her side and at her feet keeping her active and on her toes.

In addition to her mother, Dolores is survived by three children and their spouses, Deborah (Harold) Kohls of Maricopa, Ariz., Brenda (Andrew) Shircel of Sheboygan Falls and Mark (Deborah) Backhaus of Waukesha; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and Brandon Kohls, Tyler and Zachary Schneider, Jacob and Kayla Shircel and Stephanie, Melissa and Noah Backhaus; one sister, Darlene Hubert; three brothers, Roger (Pat) Hagenow, Daniel (Donna) Hagenow and Scott Hagenow. She is also survived by neighbors and friends.

In addition to her father and husband, she was also preceded in death by one sister.

A funeral service will be held for Dolores at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, at Zimmer’s Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (State 42 and County JJ, Howards Grove) with the Rev. Roger Mealiff officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Garden of Peace Mausoleum of Greenlawn Memorial Park.
