Younger golfers key for Resorters

ELKHART LAKE – Getting contributions from some of the younger players will be crucial for the 2010 Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah boys golf team.
The Resorters return four letter winners from last year’s squad but need to have someone who can help bolster the varsity lineup.
“Myles Galloway and Neven Grgic should be pretty solid in the one and two spots. We need some of the younger kids to step up,” said Resorter head coach Bart Larson who’s in his seventh year as the Resorter coach.
Grgic, a junior, earned All- Central Lakeshore Conference second-team honors in 2009. He led the Resorters in the CLC tournament with a fourth-place finish. Galloway was Elkhart’s low player in Division 3 regional play.
“The keys to success would be having a fourth golfer emerge as a consistent, respectable scorer. I think Myles, Neven and Tom [Pritzl] are going to be fairly consistent,” Larson said.
“I’m cautiously optimistic. A few of the boys played quite a bit in the summer and have come into the season improved from where they left off.”
Larson would like to see his team finish in the top half of the CLC and thinks that is a realistic goal. He also wants the squad to continue to improve, play well in the CLC tourney and advance to the sectional meet.
“Kohler and Sheboygan Lutheran will be strong as always [in the CLC]. All the teams have some very good golfers,” the coach noted.
Lutheran is the three-time defending CLC overall and tourney champion. Elkhart finished fifth overall in the CLC and fourth in the league tournament. The Resorters were 3-5-1 in CLC duals.
