CAROL A. BRINKMAN

Carol A. Brinkman, age 64, of N6137 River Heights Drive, Plymouth, Wis., passed away early Monday morning, May 3, 2010, at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

She was born March 16, 1946 in Denmark, Wis., a daughter of the late Hilding and Margaret Veitenhans Stenklyft. She attended Chilton and Wausau elementary grade schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1964. She attended Milwaukee County General School of Nursing, graduating in 1967 as a registered nurse.

On June 24, 1967, she married Jerry Brinkman at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. The couple have resided in Plymouth since their marriage.

She was a former telephone operator for GTE in Plymouth. She also worked at Plymouth Hospital for seven years and then worked 30 years at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth, and a former member of the Plymouth Junior Women’s Club.

She enjoyed doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles, cooking, going up north and spending time with her loving granddaughters.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Jerry of Plymouth; three children: Todd (Tracy) Brinkman of Plymouth, Sara Brinkman of Plymouth and Amanda Brinkman of Shorewood, Wis.; two granddaughters, Kathryn and Lauryn; two brothers-in-law, Edward (Mary) Brinkman of Mountain, Wis., and Richard Dakins of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Stenklyft of Tyler, Texas; Joyce Stenklyft of Tomah, Wis., and Marilyn (Jerome) Block of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; and also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother- and father-in-law, Everett and Rosella Brinkman; two brothers, Gerald and Steve Stenklyft, and three sisters: infant Katherine Stenklyft, Marcia Philips and Patricia Dakins; and a nephew, Gerald Stenklyft Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Plymouth. Father Wayne Bittner will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.

Friends may call at the church from 3 p.m. Friday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Carol’s name.
