PLYMOUTH – Scott Richards, who retired last week after nine seasons as the Plymouth head boys basketball coach, has been selected as a coach in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association all-star series June 19.

Richards will serve as the head coach for the Division 2 South squad against the North. The game will tip off at 9 a.m. at the UW-Madison Field House. He named PHS boys assistant coach Josh Oppeneer and Port Washington head coach John Bunyan as his assistants.

“I’m very proud and honored. I’m pleasantly surprised. Recognition from my peers is pretty special,” said Richards on being named the head coach by the WBCA.

“It’s a credit to everyone involved in Plymouth basketball. It’s a team effort.”

Richards won two Eastern Wisconsin Conference titles and guided the Panthers to the Division 2 state semifinals in 2008.

The WBCA all-star games raise money for the MACC (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer) Fund. For more information on the all-star series and how to donate to the MACC Fund, go to the WBCA web site: www.wisbca.org.
