EL-GHS band and choir concert next week

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah High School Music Department will present its annual Spring Concert Wednesday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ronald Mauk Auditorium.

The high school band and choir will perform.

Among the pieces to be performed by the band are “March and Procession of Bacchus” by Leo Delibes, arranged by Eric Osterling; “Go Gallop” by Henry Fillmore, arranged by Nicholas Contorno; and a slower piece, “Monterosi” by Jacob de Haan.

Dr. Jon Meyer, featured alto saxophone soloist, will be playing with the band. He will play “Nightfall” by John J. Morrissey and “Flight of the Bumblebee” by Rimsky-Korsakov, arrange by Meyer.

Choral selections will include “The Seal Lullaby,” words by Rudyard Kipling and music by Eric Witacre; “Fare Ye Weel,” a Scottish song arranged by John Floyd Campbell; and “Danza!” by Linda Spevacek-Avery.

Student soloists who sang or played at state solo/ensemble will also perform.

Directors of the groups are Jodi Voss, instrumental music teacher, and Barb Zirwes-Nysse, vocal music teacher. Sue Billmann will provide accompaniment for the choir.

The concert is open to the public. Tickets will be sold at the door. Proceeds from the concert will benefit music activities in the high school.
