Purple Raiders knock off Falcons in boys tennis action

The Sheboygan Falls Falcons boys tennis team dropped out of contention for the Eastern Wisconsin Conference title, as the Two Rivers Purple Raiders pulled off a 4-3 dual-match victory Friday, May 14, at Two Rivers.
Prior to the loss, Falls had trailed Plymouth by two points, with two matches left in the EWC dual-meet season.
However, Falls coach Leigh Cherveny still feels the team can salvage a third-place finish in the EWC standings.
The Falcons lost three-set matches in No. 2 singles and No. 2 and No. 3 doubles action. Both Falls doubles teams won their first game, but fell in the final two.
“Our serving and unforced errors were a poor prescription for a poor outcome,” said Cherveny.
Falcons junior Baylor Bachmann and sophomore Dustin Schueffner took strong two-set wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
The No. 3 doubles team of David Bimmel and Mitch Thimmig remained undefeated in the EWC with a two-set victory.
