A dedicated vision

After years of planning, dreaming and hard work, the Friends of the Broughton Sheboygan Marsh dedicated the 80-foot wooden observation tower – the tallest such tower in the state – in the marsh park Sunday.

Along with the dedication ceremony, there were activities for the young tied in with fishing and the outdoors put on by Wolf-Pack Adventures and the Outdoor Skills Center.

Hundreds of people came to enjoy the view from the tower or read the commemorative bricks.

County Administrator Adam Payne and Friends Char Lil Pipping hosted the dedication ceremony, which included Adam Raquet and Kayla Schnuell relating the story of how Raquet proposed to Schnuell atop the tower last February. They explained that Schnuell’s father died of a massive heart attack when she was 14 and Raquet took her to the top of the tower to propose so she could be as close to her father as possible.
