School Board thanks Tauscheck

PLYMOUTH – “A model of public service.”
School Board President Mark Rhyan used this phrase in describing Jeff Tauscheck, a former board member, who decided not to seek re-election to the board this year. Tauscheck is also the chief of police for the city of Plymouth Police Department.
After serving as a School Board member for the past nine years, Tauscheck was in the audience at the Tuesday, May 18 board meeting. During the president report agenda item, Rhyan summoned Tauscheck to the front of the room, where he presented him with a gift.
“You provided a real service to me when I was thrust into the role of board president,” Rhyan said. “Thanks for all your tribal knowledge. I want to thank you.”
Superintendent Clark Reinke had also expressed his gratitude to Tauscheck for his service as a board member, at last month’s School Board meeting.
In other business Tuesday, an election of School Board officers was held, in accordance with the state statute. The statute requires that board officers be elected in May each year.
Board member Jerry Prahl suggested that the current officers retain their positions, unless they objected to doing so. Rhyan then asked if any of the remaining board members wanted to be considered for an office. However, that was not the case.
Thus, the board voted unanimously to retain the same officers. In addition to Rhyan, they are: Tim St. Clair, vice president; Sally Isely, clerk and Pam Holzhaueser, treasurer.
Board member Jerry Prahl was appointed by unanimous vote as the CESA 7 representative.
Graduation for Plymouth High School seniors will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 6, at Plymouth City Park. Board President Rhyan and board members Holzhaeuser, St. Clair and Prahl volunteered to hand out the diplomas.
