Sheriff’s Report – May 19
Tuesday, May 18, at 4:45 p.m. Officer Barry Nelson stopped a 2002 Chevy Impala for a routine traffic stop on Interstate 43 in the town of Holland. Jeffrey Lee Walkotten, 21, of 901 Brentwood, Genison, Mich., was stopped for traveling 80 mph in a 65-mph zone. Nelson noticed drug paraphernalia in the car and instituted a probable cause search of the vehicle that yielded .5 pounds of marijuana, quantities of opium, cocaine, prescription drugs and $8,860 in cash.
Walkotten was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver opium, cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs as well as speeding. Walkotten’s car was also impounded.
