Panthers keep rolling in EWC
Plymouth continued its march toward the Eastern Wisconsin Conference boys tennis title with a 6-1 victory over host Waupun Monday afternoon.
The Panthers upped their EWC-leading dual mark to 6-0 (9-2 overall). PHS swept the singles matches – winning all of them in straight sets and losing only one game.
“It was a nice job done by the team – all of the winners winning in straight sets,” said PHS head coach Greg Gritt.
NORTH INVITE
The Panthers finished sixth in a strong field at Saturday’s Sheboygan North Invitational. PHS tallied 11 points in the eight-team meet that was won by Kenosha Tremper with 36.
Junior Nathan Bachmann led PHS with a runner-up showing at No. 2 singles. Bachmann won his firstround and semifinal matches in straight sets before falling to Tremper’s David Carswell in the finals, 1-6, 1- 6.
Senior Andrea Lofino placed third for PHS at No. 1 singles. Lofino bounced back from a loss in the semifinals with a victory in the third-place match in straight sets.
PHS senior Adam Birenbaum took fourth at No. 3 singles. Panther junior Aaron Cantleberry was the consolation champion at No. 4 singles.
Each of the Panthers’ doubles teams lost both of its matches.
