Kids’ Talk: Great things happening at the Boys and Girls Club Torch Club Service Project

My name is Zach and I am a sixth grader at Sheboygan Falls Middle School.

As a member of the Sheboygan Falls Boys & Girls Club, I am an active participant of our service organization – Torch Club.

Recently we worked on a May Basket service project. I participated in this project to award the police officers and fire fighters, because they help out with all the fires, rescues and everything else they do for our community.

The Torch Club constructed baskets with all the treats like brownies, cookie bars, Reese’s bars, coffee and coffee cups, which all police officers and firefighters like.

There were also things like pens, candy, Gatorade, banana bread and trail mix that we put in as well.

On Tuesday May, we all worked together to make the treats. One of my fellow Torch Club members Emily, and I got to make the Reese’s bars, which were very easy.

The other Torch Club members had to make the brownies and cookie bars. We decorated the boxes and arranged all the treats in them.

The next day we all walked to the police station to deliver the baskets to the police chief. It was fun to make something for someone else. We paid for all of the supplies from the profits of the snack bar we run every day at the Sheboygan Falls Boys & Girls Club.

Editor’s note: Each month a club member writes about their experience at the Sheboygan Falls Boys & Girls Club.
