The Sheboygan Falls Falcons dropped a doubleheader to South Milwaukee to open the 2010 summer baseball season Saturday, May 22, in Sheboygan Falls.
The Falcons fell by scores of 22-3 and 20-4. Falls starts the season 0-2 overall.
Struve felt that the team wasn’t able to get on track.
“This was a very good hitting team,” said Falcons coach Todd Struve. “It was a learning experience, but this team will bounce back. The team was still pretty positive after the loss.”
The Falcons gave up five runs in the first inning, after two outs, and then seven more in the second frame.
In game one, Zach Van Engen was 1-for-2, with a run scored, and Adam Lorenz hit 2-for-3, with a double, one run scored and one run batted in for the Falcons.
In the second game, Bobby Musil was 2-for-4 and Van Engen went 1-for-3. Cole Heili scored two runs, while Devin Christenson had a RBI single to guide Falls.
“We didn’t get off to a good start, but this team will get better,” remarked Struve.
