CHILTON – The Sheboygan Falls Falcons boys tennis team finished the regular season with a 5-2 victory over the Chilton Tigers in Eastern Wisconsin Conference action Tuesday, May 18.
With the win, Falls finished in third place in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference standings, with a 6-3 record (9-3 overall).
In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Dan Duda and Nathan Brown, No. 2 squad of Karl Huberty and Adam Lorenz and the No. 3 unit of David Bimmel and Mitch Thimmig each recorded straight-set victories.
Baylor Bachmann (No. 3) and Dustin Schueffner (No. 4) easily handled their singles opponents in straight sets.
“I was very pleased how we responded, after our loss at Two Rivers,” said Falcons coach Leigh Cherveny. “Our doubles teams played their best tennis of the year.”
Cherveny felt that Duda and Brown were aggressive and intelligent with their shots. He also indicated that Lorenz and Huberty played with more conviction.
Bimmel and his partners Thimmig and Doug Arpke finished the year 10-0. Falls started WIAA Division 2 sub-sectional and sectional play at the Sports Core in Kohler Tuesday, May 25 and Thursday, May 27.
