Sheboygan Fire Department promotes five

Due to retirements that took place in December, the following promotions took place earlier this year.

Deputy Chief Charles Butler is a 16-year veteran, hired in February 1994. He was promoted to Commander of Training in February 2005. He has an associate degree in public service administration. He has numerous state certifications including Fire Instructor 3 and a paramedic license. He is a member of the Sheboygan County Haz-Mat team. He currently serves on the County EMS Council, County EMS Quality Assurance Committee, LTC Fire and EMS Advisory Committee, and is on the Board of Directors for the Sheboygan Area Red Cross

He lives in Sheboygan with his wife Julie and has three daughters, Allison, Emily and Megan.

Shift Commander Gary Kolberg is a 24 -year veteran, hired in July 1985. He was promoted to Lieutenant in January 2006. He has a bachelor’s of science degree in business management

He lives in Sheboygan with his wife Martha and has one daughter, Allison.

Captain Robert Irish is a 24-year veteran, hired in July 1985. He was promoted to lieutenant in December 2002. He has bachelor’s degree in political science.

He lives in Sheboygan with his wife Mary and has three children, Jonathon, Sara and Melisa.

Captain Terry Soerens is a 23-year veteran, hired in June 1986. He was promoted to lLieutenant in December 2005.

He lives with his wife Sandy and has four children, Robert, Eva, Daniel, and David.

Captain Vernon Koch is a 21-year veteran, hired in September 1988. He was promoted to lieutenant in May 2006. He is a member of the Sheboygan County Board, representative for the 7th District. He is a member of the Sheboygan County Labor Council.

He lives in Sheboygan with his wife Dawn and has two sons, Chris and Nick.
