ELISABETH D. MOHNSAM

Elisabeth D. Mohnsam, 89 of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Thursday morning May 27, 2010 at Pine Haven Christian Home.

Elisabeth was born on July 19, 1920 in Sheboygan Falls, the daughter of John and Elisabeth (De Jong) Van der Kuyl.

She was a 1938 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School.

On March 2, 1940 she married Arno J. Mohnsam in Sheboygan Falls. Arno preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2004. Together Arno and Elisabeth operated the Mohnsam family farm.

Elisabeth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and was also a member of the ladies auxiliary and altar guild. She was a member of the homemakers club.

Elisabeth enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing sheepshead, reading, and crossword puzzles. She will be remembered for her tomato juice and dill pickles and her birthday parties in July.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Wield of Sheboygan Falls and Mary (Marvin ) TerMaat of Sheboygan Falls; eight grandchildren, Jackie (Steve) Akright and their children Stephanie (Ken) Fox and Daniel; Luanne Gumieny and her children Ross, Casey and Austin; Steve (Tracie) TerMaat and their children Kaitlin and Abigail; Shari (Dale) Van Wyk and their children Garrett and Katie; Debbie (Brian) Thiel and their children Bradley, Gabe and Alyssa; Wendy (Tom) Miller and their children Tony and Tyler; Diane (Chad) Oppeneer and their children Ashley and Samantha; Lisa (Jason) Blackston and their children Morgan and Lucas; two sisters, Marie Lawlor of East Troy, Wis., and Corrie Stobber of Hartland, Wis.; two nieces, Karen Lawlor and Mary (Glenn) Schroeder; one nephew, David (Jeanne) Lawlor; and many friends.

Elisabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Arno; son-in-law, Kenneth Wield; two brothers, Adrian and Jacob Van der Kuyl; two brothers-in-law, Joe Lawlor and Butch Stobber; two nephews, Tim and Robert Lawlor.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with the Rev. Mark Janzen and Rev. Don Haase officiating. Interment has taken place in Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in Elisabeth’s name for St Paul Lutheran Church and Pine Haven Christian Home. The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home of Sheboygan Falls (920-467-3431) is assisting the Mohnsam family.
