HAROLD O. BINDER

Harold O. Binder, age 85, of N7429 Cty. Rd. CJ, Plymouth, WI 53073, passed away late Tuesday afternoon, May 25, 2010, at his residence.

He was born on May 5, 1925, a son of the late William Binder Jr. and Anna Kracht Binder.

He attended Plymouth area grade schools, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1943. He attended University of Wisconsin- Madison and graduated from Marquette University in 1946 with a bachelor’s degree. He continued post-graduate work at Michigan State University.

Harold married Elizabeth C. Eldredge on March 1, 1946, in Plymouth.

He served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant JG from 1943-46, serving in World War II.

Harold was an accountant and owned/ operated Harold O. Binder Accounting for 56 years and was proud to serve all of his many loyal clients.

He served as secretary of the Sheboygan County Fair for over 12 years and was sanitary commissioner for the town of Rhine for 29 years.

He belonged to the VFW World Cheese Center Post 5612 of Plymouth and also volunteered many hours to the Plymouth Safety Patrol.

His beloved wife, Bette, preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 2001.

Harold was a man of honor, well respected, very compassionate, generous, hardworking, and always looking out for and taking care of others. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golf, cards – but “never achieved the magic ‘29’ in cribbage,” although he was skunked many times.

Harold was a proud businessman but his greatest joy was his family. He loved each of his six children deeply, and stood with them through each of their endeavors. Some of his greatest “gifts” were the times he was able to be “Grandpa B” to his much-adored grandchildren. His newest gift was becoming “GGB” to his great-grandchildren. Harold loved his family, but the love of his life was his wife, Bette. Harold and Bette had a love that many dream of. They traveled step-by-step together through life’s joys and sorrows and now are walking again hand-in-hand.

Dad, Grandpa B and GGB, we were blessed to have you in our lives and you will be truly missed and in our hearts forever.

Survivors include six children, Kim (Janice) Binder of Sheboygan Falls, Bonnie Binder (husband Robert Tucker) of Columbia, Md., Jan Binder (wife Julie Reichert) of Plymouth, Faye (David) Seboe of Elkhart Lake, Debra Binder (husband Ted Welke) of Apple Valley, Minn., and Lisa (Rod) Martinez of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Brent (Sheila) Binder, Samantha Seboe, Kristin (Bonner) Brown, Courtney (Dan) Pheifer, Russell (Sarah) Schuette, Jill Schuette, Cailyn Plantico (fiancĂ© Robby Craven), Brian Plantico, Kyle Plantico; five great-grandchildren, “The Twins” Emmery and Vivienne Pheifer, Brayden Brown, Ethan and Elsa Schuette and a new little Pheifer in December; one sister, Marcella (Ken) Roltgen of Plymouth; one brother, Elwood Binder of Cascade; and one brother-in-law, Roger Eldredge of Plymouth.

Harold is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was also preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Elmer and Laura Eldredge; one sister, Delores Miller; three sisters-in-law, Mae Binder, Betty Eldredge and Louise Bruhy; and four brothers-in-law, Robert and Raymond Eldredge, Mike Miller and Bill Bruhy.

The family held a non-traditional gathering to share stories and feelings about Harold on Saturday afternoon, May 29, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Harold’s name. The Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Plymouth is serving his family. For online condolences, visit www.suchonfh.com.
