Flames’ bats stymied

PORT WASHINGTON – The Plymouth Flames mustered only three hits as they lost, 6-1, to Port Washington here Friday night.

Plymouth dropped to 3-3 in the Northern Division of the Land O’ Lakes Baseball League.

Adam Knepprath was the winning pitcher – allowing one earned run on only two hits with four walks and four strikeouts in seven innings. He retired 13 of the first 14 batters.

Ryan Wachter was the starting and losing hurler. Wachter gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits with four walks and two whiffs.

The Flames tallied their only run in the top of the fifth inning on Eric Heidenreiter’s sacrifice fly. Justin Gephart, Butch Cain and Dave Stecker had one hit each for Plymouth.

Brad Young and Tom Lorenzen led the Lakers’ bats with two hits apiece.
