DOROTHY A. MASER
Dorothy A. Maser, age 89, of 330 Fairview Drive, Plymouth, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, June 8, 2010, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center where she had been a patient one day.
She was born Jan. 19, 1921 in Plymouth, a daughter of the late Edwin and Elsie (Prueter) Vick. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1938 and then received her teaching degree from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Dorothy taught school in Madison and Wausau, Wis.
She was married June 8, 1945, to William Maser. The couple lived in Germany where her husband served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Dorothy taught school while in Germany. Following her husband’s career in the U.S. Air Force, they lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, then in Tulsa, Okla., Samson Air Base in New York state, Goose Bay, Labrador, Canada, Great Falls, Mont., then in 1961 moved to Plymouth.
Dorothy taught in the Plymouth schools until retiring and then was a substitute teacher for many years.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth and was past president of the congregation.
Dorothy was always active in community service and belonged to the Plymouth Women’s Club, was an avid bridge player having been in numerous bridge clubs over the years. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and found time for doing crafts including ceramics.
Survivors include her husband Bill; one daughter-in-law, Jean Maser of Mequon, and three grandchildren, Jennifer, John and Michael Maser; and her sister-in-law, Lorayn Vick of Plymouth.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas; and one brother, Harold Vick.
Following the wishes of her family, Dorothy has been cremated and private family services will take place at a later date. There will be no public services or visitation at the Wittkopp-Schneider Funeral Home, which is serving the family.
