ROGER L. MEIVES

Roger L. Meives, 66, departed this life Tuesday, June 8, 2010, after a courageous two and a half year battle with heart disease. For the last several months Roger was on the heart/kidney transplant list and was working hard to achieve his goal.

He was born Feb. 22, 1944, in Sheboygan to the late Louis and Genevieve (Passmore) Meives. He attended local grade schools and graduated from Howards Grove High School in 1962.

On Jan. 25, 1967, he was married to Diane E. Gwynn in Plymouth. The couple lived in the town of Sheboygan Falls for their entire married life.

Roger completed his apprenticeship as a journeyman tool and die maker in 1966. He had been employed at Polar Ware/Stoelting for the past 29 years.

Roger was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved life on his family’s hobby farm and enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, watching movies and spending time working on his many projects on his farm. No day was ever a bad day for Roger and he truly enjoyed each day to its fullest.

He is survived by his wife Diane of 43 years; two daughters, Tamara “Tami” and husband, Mark Sprenger, of Argonne, Wis. and Tanya Meives of Antigo, Wis.; one son, Troy and wife, Heather Meives, Eau Claire, Wis.; and four grandchildren, Nathan and Megan Sprenger of Argonne and Lilia and William Meives, Eau Claire. He is further survived by two sisters, Diane Wieting, Saukville, and Marjorie (Albert) Kreidler of Sheboygan Falls; one brother, Charles (JoAnne) Meives of the town of Herman and sister-in-law, Minnie Meives, Sheboygan Falls; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kay Jakum; a brother, Robert Meives; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Wieting and Jerome Jakum.

A Celebration of Roger’s Life will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Zimmer’s Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (State 42 and County JJ, Howards Grove).

Roger will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
