Five seniors cap outstanding careers

With a 2-0 loss to Grafton in a WIAA Division 2 sectional semifinal girls soccer playoff game last Thursday, June 10, Sheboygan Falls Falcons seniors Hannah Hocevar, Ashley Entringer, Brianna Nack, Hannah Meyer and Marie Kettler finished their careers with some outstanding achievements.
Entringer and Meyer were four-year varsity starters, Nack was a three-year starter, Kettler started two years and Hocevar was on varsity two years, but sat out this season with an injury.
During their four-season stretch, the girls were a part of 74 wins, 56 shutouts, four regional titles and the 2010 Eastern Wisconsin Conference Championship.
This year’s EWC title ended Plymouth’s 13-year reign at the top of the conference standings.
“It’s hard to believe it’s over,” said Meyer. “This ended too soon. We have a lot great players on this team.”
“We ran into a good team,” said Entringer. “We couldn’t get a good touch pass on them.”
“Grafton plays a lot like us,” said Kettler. “They got to the ball quicker.”
“Our defense has communicated well all season,” said Nack. “Jensen Hamilton and Rotter were tough to score on this season.”
“We had a lot great leadership,” head coach Brian Mentink stated. “It will be hard to lose these players.” The Falcons return seven starters next season, and Mentink feels the 2011 team will remain strong on defense and continue to have a potent offensive attack.
