PHS alumni play South all-stars

PLYMOUTH – A group of former Plymouth High School boys basketball players, including several members of the 2008 state tournament team, held its own against the South Division 2 all-stars in a scrimmage Tuesday evening at the Riverview Middle School.

The scrimmage was held to help the South team, coached by former PHS boys basketball coach Scott Richards, prepare for Saturday’s game versus the North all-stars at the UW-Madison Field House. The contest will tip off at 9 a.m.

The South squad, which practiced in Plymouth Monday through Wednesday, will practice the rest of the week in Madison.

“Our alumni did very well. It [scrimmage] was good for both teams. The alumni had fun,” said Richards who retired as the PHS head coach after this past season.

“The all-stars had a chance to go against another group, and they learned about playing as a team.”

The scrimmage included five 12-minute segments. After being dominated in the first segment, the alumni bounced back to win three of the next four.

“It’s always fun to see kids come back that you coached,” Richards said.

The alumni team included Brad and Kevin Feick, Logan Dellger, Justin Rooker, Seth Rooker, Clay Comerford, Nick Horneck and Joe Webb.

Among the South all-stars is T.J. Bray from Waukesha Catholic Memorial who was the state’s “Mr. Basketball” (player of the year) this past season.
