River dredging public meeting next Tuesday

The Sheboygan County Planning and Resources Department, in conjunction with the many organizations working together on the Sheboygan River Dredging Project, has scheduled a public meeting to inform citizens and stakeholders about plans to resume dredging of contaminated sediments from the Sheboygan River.

The public information meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, in the large community room in the offices of University of Wisconsin-Extension on the UW-Sheboygan campus.

Dredging will likely resume as early as July of this year, and the county and city are coordinating efforts to combine several programs and funding sources to get the dredging project accomplished to remove serious impairments for the full use and enjoyment of the Sheboygan River that the decades-long legacy of pollution creates.

Members of the public, stakeholders, and groups with an interest in the Sheboygan River, the clean up project, economic development, the environment, and the future of this important and critical resource are invited to attend this meeting. There will be plenty of time for public comment and questions besides the presentation.
