Jobs
To the Editor:
The Obama administration’s unemployment policies have been a failure. We have lost millions of jobs with higher unemployment since President Barack Obama took office. The stimulus was a failure, with the country now billions of dollars more in debt with no job creation especially in the private sector.
Now Obama's answer to pay for his big government spending is to raise taxes on businesses and individuals. All income tax brackets will be going up at the end of the year. What happened to the middle class tax cuts he campaigned on?
Higher taxes will lead to a lack of real job growth. The more money the government takes from the people, the more it hurts the economy. Who spends the money more wisely, the government or the people?
I'll take my chances with the people and the private markets. Business free from government control and high taxes creates jobs. History has shown capitalist-free market economies are stronger than government-run economies.
With ObamaCare, the federal government took over one-sixth of the private economy in one stroke of the pen. There’s no way to pay for it without massive tax increases, and this will end up costing more jobs. The government needs to stop its huge spending and lower taxes on businesses so they can hire more people and expand.
Democrats hold the state and national legislatures as well as the governor’s office and the presidency, and must be held accountable. We need to fire some of these liberal politicians like Sen. Russ Feingold who think bigger government and higher taxes equal more jobs. If we don't, I think we are headed toward many years of high unemployment.
