Taylor Drive added to roadwork list

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation regional office in Green Bay is providing a weekly update on road construction in Sheboygan County.

Traffic is still reduced to one lane in each direction along State 23 from County P to State 32. The State 57 ramps will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday, June 28, but will reopen by Wednesday morning, June 30, as will the State 32 ramps.

Scheduled for completion in July, the 10-mile, $4.9 million project from County P to State 32 involves concrete dowel bar retrofit warranted, concrete diamond grinding, concrete pavement repair, concrete pavement replacement, concrete approach slabs, culvert maintenance, sign removal and installation asphaltic shoulders, beam guard upgrades, traffic control, pavement marking sawing existing pavement and incidentals necessary to complete work. This project involves State 67, State 57 and State 32 interchanges.

Crews will be finishing storm sewer, water and sanitary sewer adjustment, starting installation of underground electrical and grading on Taylor Drive in the city of Sheboygan from Superior Avenue to Saemann Avenue

The $728,000 project, scheduled for completion in August, involves grading, base aggregate, concrete pavement, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalks and driveways, storm sewer, water and sanitary sewer adjustments, pavement marking, and all incidental items necessary to complete the work.

Work on Taylor Drive southbound will be done through July 11, with Taylor Drive northbound scheduled for July 12 to August 15.

Taylor Drive southbound is closed to traffic for stage 1 construction while northbound remains open; Northbound will be closed for stage 2 construction while southbound will be open to traffic. A detour is posted using Geele Avenue, 29th Street; and Superior Avenue.

On County O, the contractor is grading and placing base aggregate to finish this week. Curb and gutter and landscaping will begin west of Rangeline Road to State 32.

The 1.30-mile, $1.1 million project on county O from State 32 to 68th Street, involves grading, base aggregate, storm sewer, asphalt paving, pavement marking, and incidentals to complete the work.

County O is closed to through traffic during construction. A detour is posted and includes State 32, State 23, and County Y.

On Interstate 43, asphalt paving will continue this week in the southbound lanes of I-43 from State 42 to Wilson Lima Road. The ramps will also be paved at State 42, State 23, State 28 and County V in the southbound lanes of I-43 throughout this week in the late evening and overnight. Beam guard adjustment will be worked on this week in the southbound lanes of I-43.

The $16.0 million project from the south county line to State 42, involves bridge deck repair and overlay, asphaltic surface milling, hot mix asphalt pavement, beam guard, concrete base patching, ramp closure gates, law enforcement pads, and all incidentals to complete the project.

I-43 will have one lane closed in the southbound lanes from State 42 to Wilson Lima Road for the asphalt paving in the southbound lanes. County V will be restricted to one lane in each direction during paving operations, with traffic handled by the use of a flagger.

During the evenings/nights of the week of June 28, various ramps will be closed overnight for the paving of the ramps as follows: June 28-29, State 42 southbound on-ramp and State 23 southbound off-ramp; June 29-30, State 23 southbound on-ramp, State 28 southbound off-ramp, and County V southbound on-ramp; June 30-July 1, State 28 southbound on-ramp, County V southbound off-ramp, and County V northbound off-ramp; and July 1-2, County V northbound on-ramp.

Notifications will be provided three days prior to each closing by use of a changeable message boards. This work is weather dependant.
