Reinemann gets first career win

HOWARDS GROVE — The Howards Grove Tigers defeated The Cedar Grove Rockets at home on Friday night 7-2.

The Tigers upped their record to 8-1 in the Central Lakeshore Conference and 8-5 overall.

Tigers starting pitcher Cole Reinemann went the distance picking up his first win as the Tiger's number three starter.

Reinemann allowed only two hits, struck out five but endured six walks and allowed no earned runs.

“I’m quite happy with Reinemann’s performance,” said Tigers coach Mark Weber. “He pitched an excellent game and hit well for us also. We had a great team effort.”

Ashton Holzman's three hits, including a double, and two runs scored led the Tigers in the hitting department. Reinemann also had two hits and an RBI. Cam Hurtienne also scored two runs.

Howards tallied three runs in the third inning with a leadoff single by Eric Dickmyer. A walk to Hurtienne, followed by Holzman's infield single, loaded the bases. A pitch then hit Reinemann, scoring the first run.

After Zach Stueven popped out to second, Bahr executed a perfect suicide squeeze driving in Hurtienne. Holzman also scored on a wild pitch.

The Tigers added three more runs in the fifth on a walk to Hurtienne, Holzman's single, Reineman's drag bunt. Zach Stueven hit a RBI single. Matt Bahr advanced on a fielder's choice and Noah Steines drove in Stueven with a solid single.

Holzman scored again in the Tiger sixth when he doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch. Reineman was credited with a RBI single.

The Rockets tallied one in the fourth on a walk to Christian Odonnel. Odonnel had a stolen base and score on a throwing error.

Another run was added in the seventh on a leadoff walk to Taylor Klopatek. Klopatek scored on an error and a groundout to the second baseman.

Klopatek went all seven innings, giving up seven runs but only five were earned with two strikeouts and four walks.

JUNIOR VARSITY GAME The JV winning streak of 12 straight is over. Sheboygan Lutheran downed HG on Thursday night 12-8.
