Falcons drop sixth straight

The Sheboygan Falls Falcons baseball team lost a non-conference doubleheader to Nicolet 18-9 and 10- 3 Saturday, June 26, in Sheboygan Falls.

Falls also lost all three conference games during the week to drop to 5-6 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference (6-14 overall) and extended its losing skid to six straight games.

The Falcons suffered their toughest loss of the season at the hands of the conference leading Kewaskum Indians 16-15 in 10 innings at Kewaskum Friday, June 25.

Cole Heili hit two home runs and drove in five runs for the Falcons. Zach Van Engen also belted his first home run of the season, with two runs driven in.

Falls pounded out 10 runs in the second inning to take a 10-4 lead behind a three-run home run from Heili.

Kewaskum whittled their way back and trailed by just one run (10-9) going into the fifth inning. Heili struck again in the top of the fifth with a two-run home run to make it 12-9. The Kiel Raiders came from behind to edge Falls 3-2 Tuesday, June 22, at Kiel. The Falcons took an early 1-0 lead when Jake Meyer scored on a wild pitch.

Kiel took the lead with two runs in the fifth and on more in the sixth frame on the way to the victory.

Bobby Musil was hit by a pitch to start the seventh inning and was driven in on an RBI single from Van Engen to make the score 3-2. Van Engen later moved into scoring position, but was unable to score.

Cole Heili took the loss, striking out four, walking two and giving up three hits. On Monday, June 21 Campbellsport shutout the Falcons in a shortened five-inning game 13-0, in Sheboygan Falls.
