EDWARD J. SAVRSNIK

Edward J. Savrsnik, age 85, of Adell passed away Thursday evening, July 1, 2010, at Columbia St. Mary’s in Mequon, after suffering an apparent heart attack at his home.

He was born June 18, 1925 in Sheboygan, a son of the late Joseph and Antonette (Bozjak) Savrsnik. He attended S.S. Cyril and Methodius grade school.

Ed served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II in the Mediterranean Theater of action. On Feb. 14, 1949, Ed married Lorene Pasket. They made their home in Sheboygan. Lorene passed away in 1980.

He had been employed for Great Lakes Homes for many years and later for Modern Machinery in Sheboygan.

On July 10, 1982, he married Ruth Scheidewind-Michaels. They lived in Sheboygan Falls, then 14 years in Elcho, Wis., and for 13 years in Adell. Ruth passed away in 2002.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Random Lake, was active in the Adell Senior Center and while in Elcho bowled in the leagues there. Ed also enjoyed fishing and playing cards, going to the casinos and would dance the polka when the opportunity arose. Ed will be remembered for his devotion to his entire family and especially loved his Lord and being in church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra (Tom) Clark of Sheboygan, Gail (Clive) Grover of Wyoming and Lynn (Patrick) Turman of Amarillo, Texas; three stepchildren, Geoffrey (June) Michaels and Jerry Michaels, both of Adell, and Jill (Steve) Steging of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; four grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Clark, Jennifer (Deric) Millard, David Diener and Rick (Kerry) Diener; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Jason Clark and David Diener III; six step grandchildren, Joel (Carrie) Michaels, Janice (Howie) Mitchell, Tim (Angie) Steging, Todd Steging, John Michaels and Molly Michaels; and eight step great-grandchildren, Logan Michaels, Jared Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell, Angenlina Steging, Brianna Steging Joshua Steging and Jakob Steging; and his special friend, Geri Bertram.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Anton and Joseph, and two sisters, Mary Federer and Julia Rommelfinger.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday noon, July 5, at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Random Lake. The Rev. Richard Fleischman concelebrated.

Cremation followed the service and inurnment took place in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial fund will be established in Edward’s name. The Wittkopp-Schneider Funeral Home is serving the family. Online condolences may be sent to www.wittkoppschneider.com.
