Plymouth’s Johnson repeats as Cheesehead Chase champion

PLYMOUTH – Haley Johnson of Plymouth successfully defended her overall female title in the fivemile race at the 18th Annual Cheesehead Chase here Saturday.

Johnson, a junior-to-be at Plymouth High School this fall, ran the course in 33 minutes, 40.0 seconds. The PHS cross country and track standout competed in the female ages 15-19 division.

Mary Bolich of Plymouth was the overall women’s runner-up in the five-mile event with a 33:47.3 clocking.

Jordan Truttschel, Kiel, earned the men’s overall crown in the five-mile run in 30:25.2.

Eric Tunissen of Newton was the overall male champion in the two-mile run with a time of 10:51.4. Plymouth’s Parker Kastelic, the male ages 15-19 winner, finished third overall in 11:13.0.

The overall women’s champion in the two-mile race was Samantha Platz in 14:28.1. Elizabeth Johnson, Sheboygan Falls, took fourth in 14:51.3.

The five-mile run and two-mile run/walk included over 500 participants which is a record for the event. The Cheesehead Chase was hosted by the Plymouth Professional Business Women. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the organizations who support women’s causes.
