Adell snow removal hinges on state of equipment

ADELL – Village President Andy Schmitt has met with Greg Schnell, Sheboygan County Highway commissioner, to discuss the possibility of contracting the Sheboygan County Highway Department to do the snow removal in Adell for this coming winter.
Schnell has consulted with the supervisor at the Cascade Highway Shed and was told that there would be no problem to do so, and are willing to do it but they cannot guarantee when they will come in. It could probably be any time from 7 to 9 o’clock in the morning and the village would not have the same quality as it has been accustomed to in the past.
Schmitt said that one of his fears is “what would happen if our plow truck would break down?” The truck is over 10 years old and had been purchased as a used vehicle.
The board decided on a back-up plan, that being that if such were to happen, as Schnell assured, the county would be available. Therefore, if the equipment holds out, snow removal in Adell will continue as in the past years.
Building Inspector Walt Grotelueschen once again reported that “things have been pretty quiet, a few phone inquiries but no action on permits being applied for.” His quarterly report included two electrical, four roofing, one basement remodel, one plumbing, one courtyard, and three sheds for building permits issued.
A request for plowing and sweeping a parking lot within the village has been referred to the village attorney for necessary information.
Future board meetings will continue to be held on the second Wednesday of the month but will now begin at 7 p.m.
Operators licenses were approved for Mary Jane Klein, Valerie Schmitt, and Cassandra Marceau.
Police activity report
for month of June
Sheboygan County officers report four complaints investigated during June include a barking dog, parking complaint, branches in roadway and a gas drive-off. Eight property checks were completed, five warnings were issued, and one parking ticket ($20) was issued. Twelve hours were spent during April patrolling and mileage reported was 79.
Officer Cory Roeseler issued a reminder that if someone other than a village official is trying to get in touch, to please call either the Cascade cell phone 838-4311
or the best is to call the dispatch number, 459-
3112.
This way, determination can be made to get immediate assistance or forwarding the message. He will also accept a voicemail if there is no emergency.
