HAROLD W.A. HUEPPCHEN

Harold W.A. Hueppchen, age 91, of 336 S. Bruns Ave., Plymouth, passed away Friday morning, July 16, 2010, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, where he had been a patient since Monday. Harold had suffered with Alzheimer’s for the past several years.

He was born Jan. 7, 1919 in Plymouth, a son of the late Arno and Mary (Mitwede) Hueppchen. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1937. He then worked as a cheese maker at Passini Cheese Factory.

On June 15, 1940, he married Verna Miller. The couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. In 1942 they started farming on the Hueppchen homestead where he was born and raised. They farmed there until retiring in 1984 when they moved to Plymouth.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, assisted as an usher and helped with the shut-in video program.

He was known for his collection of toy tractors and he especially enjoyed a can of Old Milwaukee. In retirement Harold spent time reading and along with his wife, took numerous bus trips around the country.

Survivors include his wife, Verna; one daughter, Kathleen Goldman of Kohler; one grandson, Todd (Christine) Preder of Sheboygan; one granddaughter, Tricia (Derek) Powell of Belgium; two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Malayna Preder of Sheboygan; one brother, Eugene Hueppchen of Grafton; and five sisters-in-law, Helen Hueppchen, Arlene (Evan) Stone, Lydia Miller, Delores Miller and Linda Miller.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald; his son-in-law, Paul Goldman and sister-in-law, Nellie Hueppchen.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth with the Rev. James Hoppert, pastor, officiating. Following the services, cremation will take place with inurnment in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum in Kohler.

Friends may call at the church Tuesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Harold’s name.
