MARGARET G. RENK

Margaret G. Renk, age 85, of Morning Drive, Plymouth, passed away early Monday morning, July 26, 2010, at the Plymouth Care Center where she has resided since September of 2008.

Margaret was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Plymouth to John and Emma (Drauschke) Wittig. She graduated from Plymouth High School. After school she worked as a secretary and the head of the billing department at the Borden Cheese Co. Plymouth Cheese Counter.

On Nov. 15, 1947, she married Charles G. Renk of Plymouth.

After the birth of her two sons, Margaret worked as manager of the Plymouth Sentry Food Store’s bakery and deli department.

Margaret enjoyed caring for her family, her many friends, service to her church and community, traveling, golfing, flower gardening, bird watching, making Barbie Doll clothes and beautiful beaded Christmas ornaments, and assisting her husband make wine. When she found free time aside from all these wonderful hobbies, she found herself playing Mrs. Santa Claus around the holidays.

She was a dedicated member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth, where she was a past Parish Council member, past parish trustee, past School Board member and a long-time reader, lector, and communion distributor.

She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Altar Society, where she was a past officer; the Daughters of Isabella-Marquette Circle, where she was a past officer; the Worlds Cheese Center VFW Auxiliary Post #5612, where she held an office; and a volunteer at the Plymouth Arts Center and Museum.

Margaret will be remembered for her dedication and love of her family and church, boundless energy, generosity, outgoing personality, and quick pitter-patter of her footsteps.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Renk of Plymouth; two sons, Andrew (Linda) Renk of Janesville, Wis., and Anthony (Patricia) Renk of Ellsworth, Wis.; two granddaughters, Debra Renk of Edgerton and Dawn (Nicholas) Mastroinni of Rockford, Ill.; great-grandchildren, Dominique Rudnitzki of Edgerton and Michael Mastroinni of Rockford; a sister-in-law, Ellen Shannon of Arab, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Wittig.

A memorial Mass will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth with the Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of Mass.

Margaret’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many friends who shared their love and lives over the years as well as a very sincere thanks to Kay Schneider for her deep devotion, friendship, care and support, also to Dr. Mary Arenberg and Joseph Schneider. They also wish to say thank you to the staff of Plymouth Care Center and the staff of VNA Hospice of Sheboygan for the superior care they have given and the compassion and kindness they have shown to Margaret over the past two years.
