Tigers’ Jaeger three-peats on All-CLC first team Howards’ Jahnke, Benning also on top unit

Senior forward Natalie Jaeger of Howards Grove was named to the All-Central Lakeshore Conference girls soccer first team for the third straight season.

She was honorable mention as a freshman. Also voted to the first team for the league champion Tigers were senior defender-midfielder Taylor Jahnke and senior goalkeeper Ali Benning.

Jahnke is one of four first-team repeat choices and is a unanimous pick in voting by the CLC coaches. Benning was honorable mention last year.

The Tigers have two second-team players in junior forward Brooke Schaller and sophomore midfielder Karyssa Gallenberger.

Howards’ honorable-mention picks are sophomore defender Amanda Hake and sophomore forward Brianna Morgen.

The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters’ all-league players are sophomore forwards Beth Merten and Maddie Landgraf on honorable mention for the second consecutive season.

Jaeger, a team captain for the Tigers, scored four goals and had six assists for the overall season.

“Natalie is very small, however she plays with a huge heart,” said Tiger head coach Eric Worth. “I’ll never forget her scoring a header in and yelling, ‘That’s a Double Debbie.’ ”

Jahnke, a team captain, contributed one goal and an assist.

“Taylor understands the game very well. She has a nonstop motor in which she can play the entire game and not get tired,” Worth said.

Benning had an impressive 11 shutouts and surrendered only 10 goals the entire season to go with 90 saves.

“Ali was a beast in the goal. She improved so much over the year,” the coach observed.

The other first-team repeaters are senior midfielder Taylor Ansay of Cedar Grove-Belgium and junior midfielder Danielle Hart of Sheboygan Lutheran/Kohler.

Also being voted unanimously to the first unit were Ansay, junior midfielder Emily TeBeest of Oostburg, senior midfielder Jeanette Lapinski of Ozaukee and Hart.

Oostburg has a league-best three first-team players.
