DANIEL BRUCE COUNSELMAN
Daniel Bruce Counselman, age 65, formerly of N6576 Riverview Road, Plymouth, Wis., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center after a short battle with cancer.
Dan was born April 2, 1945 in Monroe, Wis., to the late Howard and Elfreida (Foesch) Counselman. Dan graduated from Monroe High School and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville School of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Dan married Donna Jean Henry, at the Lutheran Church of Peace, on June 26, 1971 in Platteville, Wis.
Dan was employed by Mobil Oil Corp., in Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Virginia from 1970-88.
In 1988, Dan and his family relocated to Plymouth, Wis., where he was employed by Donahue & Associates (Sheboygan) and later by Alpha Terra Science (Plymouth). For the past 10 years Dan owned and operated Counselman & Associates Engineering.
Dan was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, and was a very active member in Via de Christo.
Over the years Dan was involved with the Order of DeMolay, Phi Alpha Psi/Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity, NRA, Boy Scouts of America, Plymouth Soccer Association, Quit Qui Oc Sports Complex Board, and the Barron Buckmasters.
Dan is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Sheri (John) Rathje of Grantsburg, Wis., and Lori (Terry) Ferkey of Hopkins, Minn.; two sons, Eric (Shannon) Counselman of Rochester, Minn., and Brian Counselman (fiancée, Laura Crouch) of Madison, Wis.; two grandchildren, Owen and Anja Rathje; father- and mother-in-law, Ken Henry (special friend, Darlene McCartney) of Platteville, Wis., and Maxine (LaVern) Skjegstad of Platteville, Wis.; two sisters, Amy (Karl) Jackson of Marshall, Wis., and Shirley Procknow of Cary, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Diane (Charles) Paynter of Platteville, Wis.; one brother-in-law, Gary (Zina) Henry of Dallas, Texas; and also survived by one niece, five nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Elfreida Counselman, and his uncle, Phil Counselman.
A celebration of his life will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 7, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1808 Eastern Ave., Plymouth. The Rev. Jim Wilson, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Friends may call at the church
Friday, Aug. 6, from 3-6 p.m. and on Saturday, Aug. 7, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Cremation will follow services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made to Quit Qui Oc Sports Complex in honor of Dan. (If you are unable to
