ROLAND O. BARTZ

Roland O. Bartz, age 88, formerly of W9268 Chicadee Drive, Glenbeulah, Wis., passed away early Monday evening, Aug. 2, 2010, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he had been a patient for the past three days following a stroke.

He was born Oct. 1, 1921 in Sheboygan, Wis., a son of the late Hugo O. and Clara Muelbauer Bartz.

On Dec. 24, 1945, he married Elva E. Majewski in Sheboygan. The couple resided in the town of Greenbush since their marriage where they farmed for over 40 years on the Bartz’s Happy Acres. His wife preceded him in death Oct. 4, 1992.

Roland owned and operated his own trucking fleet for several years and was also a territory salesman for John Miller Implement in St. Nazianz for 17 years and traveled all over the world. He also worked for Knowles Manufacturing in Glenbeulah before retiring in 2002.

He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.

He enjoyed traveling, trains and working his farmland.

Survivors include his children: David Bartz of Marytown, Sandra (Robert) Wirtz of Glenbeulah, Tom (JoAnne) Bartz of Plymouth, Carol Bartz of Douglas, Ga., Darlene (Pat) Burns of St. Cloud, Mike (Chris) Bartz of Elkhart Lake and Peter (Lisa) Bartz of Glenbeulah; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; his loving companion and special friend, Eunice Stopher of Chilton; one sister, Helen Borse of England; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Bartz of Beaumont, Texas. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by one son, James R. Bartz; one brother, Carl Bartz and two sisters, Helen and Ruth.

Funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake. The Very Rev. Dennis Van Beek, pastor of the church, will officiate. Cremation will take place following the services and inurnment will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Plymouth.

Friends may call at the Resurrection Chapel at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 1:30 p.m. Monday until the time of services.
