The Sheboygan Falls Common Council approved a resolution in support of Sheboygan County for Tiger II funding to rebuild the railroad right-of-way from Plymouth to Sheboygan Falls, during its semimonthly meeting Tuesday, Aug. 3 at the City Hall Municipal Building.
Council members agreed to the benefits of applying for a federal grant to the rebuild 10.9 miles of the railroad right-of-way from Plymouth to Sheboygan Falls.
The council felt that the importance of freight rail travel would benefit the community and provide an opportunity for area citizens and businesses to expand jobs.
Mayor Randy Meyer said the lights would be tested at the Municipal Building. Meyer also noted that council members should discuss their appearance as the Falls Fest parade Saturday, August 21.
Operator license applications were approved for Tammy l. Wrigley and Anne M. Krauter.
An electrical journeyman license renewal for Todd Haas was approved. Electrical contractor’s licenses were renewed for Joel Daane and Lake Park Electric Inc. Electrical licenses were approved for Fox Electric, LLC and DePagter, LLC.
Conditional-use permits were approved for Pit Stop Pizza, 1108 Fond du Lac Ave., Falls Media Gallery, 1086 Fond du Lac Ave. and Pentecostals of Sheboygan County, 1114 Plankview Green Blvd.
Council member Terry Van Engen expressed concern about the increased traffic flow to the church at the intersection of State 32 and Happy Lane.
“I’m hopeful that the church can meet the conditions we have laid out for them,” said Van Engen.
Randy Messner questioned the limited parking that could pose a problem if a hotel is eventually constructed and if the church could accommodate parking for the hotel.
“There will be a need to negotiate parking terms with the Plankview owners,” remarked Messner. The next Sheboygan Falls Common Council meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the City Hall Municipal Building.
