Criter, Gambrell, Suchon earn all-state swim/dive honors
Plymouth’s Kate Criter, Jesse Gambrell and Josh Suchon earned Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association all-state honors for the 2009-2010 school year.
In Division 2, the top-three finishers in the state meet are named all-state and those in places 4-6 are allstate honorable mention. Gambrell, a senior last season, placed second for the Panthers in the Division 2 boys 100-yard breaststroke. Suchon, a junior, finished third in the diving event.
Criter, a sophomore last season, placed third for the Panther girls team in the Division 2 100-yard breaststroke. She also earned All-America recognition in the event from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association with her time of 1 minute, 4.97 seconds at state.
Criter also received all-state honorable mention in the 200 freestyle relay that took fifth in the state meet last fall. The other PHS relay members honored were junior Sarah Ebbott and sophomores Sarah Coley and Lauren Halle.
Gambrell also earned honorable mention in the Panthers’ 200 medley relay which captured fourth in the 2010 state meet. The other relay members included seniors Alex Krueger and Jeff Pagel and junior Brian Linzmeyer.
The following seniors from PHS, members of the girls swim/dive team, were named Academic All- Americans: Christine Coley, Stephanie Hellmer, Rachel Sommer, Kaitlynn Stirling and Clare Witkowski.
All-American status is achieved by a senior swim/dive athlete after seven semesters if an athlete has been in the sport for two or more years, lettered in her senior year, had a cumulative grade-point average of 3.75 or higher and her coach is a member of the NISCA.
Receiving WISCA all-state academic honors for PHS were the following seniors on the girls squad: Alyssa Mahloch, Ashley Siech, Coley, Witkowski, Jessica Franzen, Stirling, Mariah Erdmann, Sommer, Sage Calhoun, Hellmer and Taylor Handrow.
