4-H-Willing Workers – August

Everyone had a great time at the Wimmlers’ house! The food shared was delicious and the games and pool were fun for all of the members. Thanks to the Wimmler Family and the Schroeder Family for organizing the Willing Workers 4-H Club picnic.

For the club booth, all members needed to send in their phrase: “4-H is a place for...” along with a picture before the Aug. 5 deadline. Also, they are still in need of a large doll that is 3 feet or so in height that can be borrowed for a few days during the fair for use in the booth.

Chloe Laudolff had a great idea and gave the $5.50 in quarters this month to Mrs. Wimmler. Evan Ladwig was chosen this month to do something with the $5.75 in quarters.

Jackson Wimmler told us that the softball season was fun and exciting, and he thanked all those that played. Luke Laudolff said that our record was 2 and 3 with another game cancelled because of the rain.

Mrs. Beck had a sign-up sheet for members and parents to volunteer at the 4-H Food Stand at the fair Saturday, Sept. 4, from 1-4 p.m. The younger ones can help on the cold side serving milk and milk shakes while older members help on the hot side making pizzas, baked potatoes, nachos and other delicious foods. We should all wear our great T-shirts that Mrs. Laudolff designed.

I presented some ideas to the club members for the annual banquet in October. After discussion and voting, it was decided that we will have it at the Alliance Church on Monday, Oct. 11, along with the October meeting. The club voted to have pizza.

Katherine Leclerc doesn't have a local Plymouth business window reserved yet for her committee to do the 4-H window display, but her committee will get this done soon and report back to the club at the September meeting. We are excited to see what she gets!

Kim Beck and her committee will think of some ideas for the annual club Christmas Party and will give more information at the September meeting.

Any parent or older youth is asked to help out the week before the fair to assist setting up all of the 4-H projects.

Our club's designated area of highway to be cleaned has finally been mowed by the county so we need to get some volunteers to go and pick up garbage. It will be easy now that it is mowed down.

We say “Happy Birthday” to Bryce, Mitchell, Naomi and Joseph.
