Sidewalks

To the Editor:

Thank you, Plymouth City Council and Department of Public Works, for giving us the most appalling sidewalk in the city.

When we were notified the sidewalk portion of our driveway needed to be moved to align with our street, we were assured the driveway would be properly pitched. Unfortunately, that is not what we got.

Since the apron was damaged, we asked that to be fixed. Instead of replacing the apron, which now has a crack and large black skid marks all over it, a portion was cut out and our sidewalk cutout is now 5.5 feet wide. The city code is 4.5 feet. This is ridiculous!

The city will not replace our apron but has agreed to all future repairs.

What qualifications are required to have this job? If this is progress in the making, fair warning to all streets in the future slated for sidewalks.

We did not want sidewalks in our subdivision, so now we’re getting substandard quality.

The citizens of Plymouth voted for the council to represent us – and have let us down. I think the time has come for change.
